Christmas Card by Lillian M. Salter
It was only a little Christmas card
But it brightened a gloomy day,
And set my mind a-thinking
Of a friend now far away.
I was happy to think she remembered
And took the time to write,
And although it was only a Christmas card,
I thought of it into the night.
I recalled many hours spent together
And many a kindness shown,
In the days when we were neighbors
In my far off girlhood home.
Perhaps, if we thought more often
Of friends who are now far away,
We would write a little card
And send it on its way.
