Gracie Mae Evans, 95, of Cirtsville, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2006, at Hilltop Health Care Center, Hilltop, of Alzheimer’s disease.

Born June 29, 1910 at Cirtsville, she was the daughter of the late Giles and Chloe Steagall Lester.

Gracie was a homemaker, and was a member of the Packs Branch Missionary Baptist Church.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Virgil Ray Evans, on July 17, 1958; three brothers, Fred, Roscoe, and Frank Lester; and two sisters, Dilla Evans and Ruby Vass.

Survivors include two sons, Alex Evans and wife Florence of Cirtsville and Ab Evans and wife Karen of Mount Hope; two grandchildren, Lori Deal of Mount Hope and Jason Evans of Morgantown; two great-grandchildren, Cody Deal and Robert Alex Hughes, both of Mount Hope; and sister, Mabel Bailey of Beckley.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Tyree Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Hope, with the Rev. Sam Vance and Rev. Gary Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Friends may call from 6 until 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jim Withrow, Ray Horrocks, Eugene Bailey, Butch Tyree, Bill Markham, and Gary Painter.
