Stephen “Jack” Wayne Markham Sr., 72, of Milton, formerly of Mount Hope, died on Monday, June 16, 2008, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va.

Born Feb. 17, 1936, at Cirtsville, W.Va., he was the son of the late William and Wilma Painter Markham.

He was a member of the Packs Branch Baptist Church.

Jack retired from the Kroger Warehouse in Charleston. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran with eight years of service and he retired from the WV Air National Guard with 12 years of service.

He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local #125 of Charleston.

His wife, Carol Sue Holley Markham, preceded him in death.

Survivors include two sons, Stephen W. Markham and wife, Adrena, of Milton and William Markham and wife, Merrit, of Pax; one daughter, Lisa Lovelace and husband, John, of Maple Fork; three brothers, Mike Markham of Beaver, Roger Markham of Long Branch and Gene Markham of Pikeville, Ky.; and three sisters, Mary Dunbar of Cleveland, Ohio, Barbara Krueger of Napa, Calif., and Patricia Bell of Upper Marlboro, Md.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Chris Lovelace, Michael Markham, Andrea Markham, Gary Markham, Christopher Markham, Kevin Markham and Emily Markham.

Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope, with Pastor Sam Vance officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill.

Stephen Markham Jr., William Markham, Chris Lovelace, Gary Markham, Doug Holley and Jeff Surgeon will serve as pallbearers.
