Reba Mae Alderman, 84, of Long Branch, passed away Monday, July 11, 2016, after a long fight with Alzheimer's disease. Reba was born August 22, 1931, to William Robert and Violet Williams.? After graduating high school, Reba worked at Houchins Grocery Store and Brown's Hardware Store in Mount Hope. Reba married Bob Alderman on November 20, 1952. She worked at Mount Hope Housing Authority until her retirement in 1993.? Reba was a member of the Packs Branch Baptist Church.

She loved going to church and listening to gospel singing. As Reba's Alzheimer's advanced, she was often heard still singing her favorite church hymns.? In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Ted Williams.? Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Bob; children, Bobby Alderman, and Jeannette (Phillip) Humphrey both of Mount Hope; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchildren and brother, Biddle Williams. Reba often spoke of how thankful she was to have such a wonderful brother.

A celebration of life will be held at Packs Branch Baptist Church on Thursday, July 22, 2016, at 2pm with Brother Sam Vance officiating. Reba will be laid to rest at the Dock Lively Cemetery during a private family burial.? Reba was blessed with many home caregivers who assisted her daughter. She spent the last two years of her life at Pine Lodge. The family would like to thank the home caregivers and especially the staff and administration at Pine Lodge for the excellent care they provided. The family is very grateful to Dr. Jacob McNeel for many years of compassionate and competent healthcare.? Online condolences may be sent to the family at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C.
